Jake Burling Field

Located at the Joe Grate Sports Complex, Jake Burling Field hosts Illini West Jr/Sr baseball and softball. We have been building new dugouts, redoing the bleacher area, and updating the fencing/lightning. There is still a good amount of work to do, but it is going to be a great improvement for Carthage.

Jacob Burling Memorial Scholarship

To honor Jake’s time at Upper Iowa University and his passion for agriculture, we established the Jacob Burling Memorial Scholarship in 2017. Each academic year, a UIU student majoring in agriculture (or from a farming background) is selected as a recipient. In 2019, with the help of Jake’s baseball teammates, close friends, family, and UIU alumni, the scholarship became self-sustaining.
